OUR WORK

We create change through a network of strategic partnerships. In its five-year history, TravelAbility has established itself within the tourism industry as a leading innovator, advocate, and resource on accessible travel. Our work is guided by our research and collaborations with individuals with disabilities, advocates, and the elderly. We work to achieve our mission through:

Coalition Building

From its inception, the Travelability Foundation has worked from within the industry, building connections between destination marketing organizations, regional visitor’s bureaus, hotels, transportation companies, and organizations serving people with disabilities.

Advocacy

Advocating for policy changes that support accessible travel and protect the rights of travelers with disabilities.

Philanthropy

Providing vacation grants to enable people with disabilities who can’t afford to travel.

Employment and Workforce Development

By educating and encouraging the travel industry to provide accessibility information online, the foundation helps people with disabilities lead more complete lives, grows the travel economy, provides more jobs in the local community and ultimately leads to more employment for people with disabilities who are entering the workforce.

Research

Conducting research on the travel needs and preferences of people with disabilities and older adults.

Innovation

Identifying and amplifying best practices, products, and standards for accessible travel.

Education

Setting the standard for inclusivity and accessibility for all segments of the industry. We deliver resources and state-of-the-art training that equips travel companies with research, models, and new and emerging practices that are opening doors to business and pleasure travel for a much more diverse population of passengers.

Sometimes the private sector can innovate in ways that traditional philanthropy and advocacy cannot.
